SEO in the Philippines: Phase 1 - How Google Finds Your Site
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is simply a process. Before your blog shows up in search results, Google has to find it and understand it. This first part of SEOPHaze shows you the three steps Google uses to put your content in front of readers.
1. Crawling: The Discovery Phase
Google uses software called "bots" to find new pages. They move from link to link to see what is new on the web.
In
the Philippines, where mobile data is often slow or expensive, this
discovery part is critical. If your blog takes too long to load because
of massive images, Google’s bots might give up on your site before they
finish reading it.
You
can speed this up by submitting your sitemap to Google Search Console.
This is like sending a direct invitation to Google, so you don't have to
wait months for them to stumble upon your site.
2. Indexing: The Storage Phase
Once a bot finds your page, it reads the content. It looks at your titles, images, and words to figure out the topic. If the page is helpful, Google saves it in a digital library called the Index. We will give a specific example: SEO is like a filing cabinet; if you write about the "best coffee in Davao," Google puts you in that specific folder. If your writing is confusing, you might end in the wrong folder where nobody might find you.
To help Google trust your site enough to store it, make sure your "About" and "Privacy" pages are finished. A complete site proves you are a real resource, which makes Google more likely to index your new posts quickly.
3. Ranking: The Result Phase
When someone searches for a question, Google looks through the Index for the best answer. It then lists those answers in order of quality. In 2026, you don't need to repeat the same word 50 times to get noticed.
Google is now smart enough to tell the difference between a helpful
person and a bot. Focus on answering a specific question better than
other websites, and the ranking will follow.
What's Next?
Once Google indexes your site, the groundwork is done. Next, we will
look at how to find the specific words your audience is searching for so
you can start appearing in their results.
